Local MPP Laurie Scott says the provincial budget is unsustainable. After yesterday’s budget speech, Scott says spending isn’t being done properly.
Interest rates are increasing because they’ve put in so much debt and it will cause taxes to increase. Scott says the Liberal predictions for revenue are unrealistic. She says she spoke with CFIB and the predictions aren’t right.
According to Scott, things like health care need to be modernized and decisions need to be made at the local level for places like Haliburton County. Municipalities need money spent more effectively, locally, she said.
Scott feels the budget will hurt people, but she says she will continue to keep an eye on how they manage it and will listen to the people to see how prices are increasing.
Scott says with this budget there’s no way the Liberal government will be able to balance the books by 2017-2018.
