Parents in Haliburton County want their children to speak both of Canada’s official languages.
That’s according to Trillium Lakelands District School Board Superintendent Andrea Gillespie, who says the demand is high for French immersion.
Gillespie says the demand for French education has gone up in the last few years.
Gillespie adds that the school board currently has enough teachers to accommodate the high demand.

She also says the one obstacle for children to get taught in French the district is transportation.
Gillespie didn’t have specific numbers on how many students are enrolled in French immersion.
Stuart Baker Elementary and John Douglas Hodgson Elementary both offer French immersion in the county.
