Bowl For Kids’ Sake in Minden Hills raises $3,500 for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton has $3,500 extra to work with.

That’s according to Executive Director Jim DeFlorio, who says that’s how much Bowl for Kids’ Sake in Minden Hills brought in last month.

DeFlorio says he was thrilled that five teams were able to raise that much money earlier this month.

The charity helps youth by pairing them with an adult mentor.

DeFlorio says studies done show that children who have mentors are more likely to succeed in life.

He adds that kids with a mentor are also more likely to get involved in their communities.

DeFlorio also says there are 10 children in Haliburton County looking for a big brother or sister.

If you want to get involved, call 705-324-6800.
