Even if a homeowner got a certified contractor to inspect their septic, they will be billed just under $145.
Mayor Carol Moffatt says there is still a cost to the township if property owners get their systems inspected by a third party.
The cost for the township’s re-inspection company to do the work would be under $180.
Moffatt adds the aim of the program is to make sure all septics are in compliance with the Ontario Building Code and prepare reports for the township on each property.
Moffatt said last year when the program was first adopted is that this will help Algonquin Highlands keep an eye on lake health, which is critical to the local economy.
