Government’s throne speech promises investments in health, home and child care; M.P.P. Laurie Scott says liberals spending too much

The Ontario government’s throne speech is about care, but it will come with a cost.

The liberals are promising to spend money on health care, home care, as well as child care as outlined in yesterday’s throne speech.

Multiple reports say the provincial budget, set to be unveiled in Queen’s Park next week, will carry an $8 billion deficit.

Premier Kathleen Wynne also says next week’s budget will include increased spending to include dental coverage.

Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Brock M.P.P. Laurie Scott says Wynne government’s spending is out of control.

Finance Minister Charles Sousa said earlier this month that he has fought long and hard to balance the books but will not leave anyone behind.

Scott says she believes Ontario has fallen from the powerhouse it used to be since the liberals formed government in 2003.

Details on spending will come next week when Sousa brings his budget forward.
