The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit is launching a new education campaign about unsafe tanning. As of May of this year, the Skin Cancer Prevention Act bans Ontario youth under the age of 18 from using a tanning bed. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, people who expose themselves to UV rays either from the sun or tanning beds, are increasing their chances of skin cancer.
