Bancroft OPP gets an interim Detachment Commander; plans in place for future

Bancroft OPP will have an interim Detachment Commander for the next few months.

Joseph Evans will be taking on the role. He tells Moose FM that he comes with 20 years of military experience, along with having worked for the OPP’s specialty services, police academy, and at many detachments. Evans says one of his biggest priorities during his time in Bancroft will be to build bridges in the community in order to promote public safety.

Evans says he will also work to bolster up current Bancroft OPP officers.

Evans will be the interim Detachment Commander until June 2nd. He says the OPP is currently digging down to find the right person to become the detachment’s permanent Staff Sergeant. That person will have to be a good leader and become part of the community. Evans also says the Bancroft & Area Community Policing Advisory Committee will be invited to take part in the hiring process. Bancroft OPP hasn’t had a permanent Staff Sergeant since Tim Spence retired in October.
