Gooderham Music Festival starting to take shape

If you like seeing musical performances outdoors, you will be able to in Gooderham this summer. The Gooderham Music Festival will be on August 4th and attendance is free. Local performers and bands, such as Cassidy Glecoff, Mad Hatterz, The Rockin Bobs and Bent Tree Bluegrass will supply the tunes.

Gooderham Community Action Group Chairperson, Denise Winder says since it’s the first ever festival, it’s hard to determine how many people will take it in, or how much revenue will be raised. Winder did add that if the festival is a success, it will be back next year, possibly with more bands and vendors. While visitors can attend the show for free, Wilder says revenue will come from selling space to vendors at $50 per spot, as well as a donation from Highlands East for $1,000.

Wilder says the action group is also selling sponsorships as well. In a report to council, the action group estimated the cost of the event will be just under $2,700.

The festival will be at the bandstand outside the Robert McCausland Memorial Community Centre from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
