Haliburton Highlands Health Services grateful for its volunteers during National Volunteer Appreciation Week

Haliburton Highlands Health Services is extremely grateful for its volunteers. It’s National Volunteer Appreciation Week and H.H.H.S.  President and C.E.O Carolyn Plummer is using the week to thank everyone who has donated their time to healthcare in the county.

Plummer says volunteers offer tens of thousands of hours per year for health services, as well as fundraising efforts through the foundation. She adds that volunteers are essential to the well-being of healthcare in Haliburton County.

Plummer also says the generosity of volunteers is critical to the success of healthcare in rural communities.

The Haliburton and Minden Auxiliaries rely on volunteers to run the gift shops as well as sell raffle tickets and offer their time at events to raise money for equipment for the hospitals. Volunteers also help in community support services which helps people stay in their homes longer. All board members of H.H.H.S. and the foundation are all serving on a volunteer basis as well.
