Dates on when Minden Hills could see a renovated community centre is becoming clearer. The Arena Task Force says it hopes work will start on the approximately $5.5 million refurbishing of the S.G. Nesbitt Community Centre and Arena in either July or August of 2019. Mayor Brent Devolin also sits on the task force and says the hope is that a project schedule will be established sometime next month.

Last year, Minden council was presented with three options for the over 40-year-old facility: minor upgrades, a major renovation, or building a brand new centre. Devolin says a key aspect of the project’s agenda will be public input. He says feedback from residents in critical because it’s their tax dollars.

The task force considerable time is needed for tendering, receiving and awarding bids. It hopes that process will be complete by next March.
