Police remind drivers to ‘Lock it or lose it’

As the weather warms up your vehicle is more likely to be targeted by thieves.

The OPP is warning drivers whether you leave your vehicle parked outside for ten minutes or overnight, you need to lock it up. Police say opportunistic thieves are targeting vehicles with valuables in sight, like GPS, jewellery, wallets or cell phones. Even a locked vehicle could potentially be broken into if items are left out for thieves to quickly grab. Police also warn you could become a victim of identity theft if you’ve left sensitive documents like a drivers licence or SIN card in your vehicle glove box.

Police say if it’s parked outside keep valuables out of sight, lock it up and at night, if possible, leave it parked in a well-lit area.
