April in Haliburton County sets snowfall record

It took 133 years but cottage country has set a weather record. According to Environment Meteorologist Geoff Coulson the average snowfall in the region for April is just under 20 centimetres. Coulson says we shattered the average in terms of snow and set a new record.

Coulson adds we came close to setting a new record for coolest temperatures for April. He says this would have been the coldest April on record to date but the weekend warmth brought the average up.

Coulson also says the daytime highs will be in the high teens or early 20’s to start May but we can expect rain later this week starting on Wednesday.
