Haliburton Highlands O.P.P. says be on the lookout for deer on the county’s roads

The Haliburton Highlands O.P.P. wants you to be on the lookout for deer on our roadways. The detachment says the arrival of spring means more deer can be seen along roadways and motorists need to keep an eye out for them Community Safety Officer Dianna Dauphinee says deer are more active during certain times of the day.

Dauphinee adds if you see a deer crossing sign on your journey, you should be cautious.

Dauphinee also stresses that you don’t veer for deer. If you made a sudden movement with your steering wheel, you could end up colliding with something other than a deer.
