Milburn Road re-opened

A road in Minden Hills that was closed for the spring melt is now open. The township says Milburn Road was re-opened this afternoon after being closed for just over a month. Milburn Road connects County Road 503 to Gelert Road.

When the road was closed in April, Roads Superintendent Travis Wilson said that the combination of melting snow, along with rain, can put some roads under water. Wilson adds that private roads are not monitored by the township and that people accessing them should do so with caution.

Several roads in Minden were under water last year at this time due to massive flooding which forced the township to declare a state of emergency. The latest flood outlook statement from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says reservoir lakes connected to the Gull River are high, but there is no flood warning.
