The village of Haliburton is celebrating its 150th birthday this weekend. On Saturday the Haliburton Highlands Museum is hosting a community picnic.
Museum Director Kate Butler says they will be burying a time capsule that anyone can add to. Anyone who has something to put into the time capsule can contact the museum.
Old-fashioned activities will be held for the whole family along with free cake and face painting. They will also be hosting a Victorian costume contest and a pop-up museum. People are encouraged to bring a token they think says “Haliburton” to include in the pop-up museum for the day.
The event kicks off in Glebe Park this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
