Haliburton Highlands O.P.P. charges four motorists with stunt driving in a single week

Four drivers in Haliburton County are facing fines and licence suspensions. The Haliburton Highlands O.P.P. says three men and a woman were charged with stunt driving in separate incidents between May 14th and the 21st. Officers were patrolling Highway 35 in Minden Hills at the County Road 121 intersection over that period, where the posted speed limit is 80 kilometres an hour.

According to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, stunt driving is when a motorist speeds at 50 kilometres or more over the posted limit. All four drivers have their licences suspended for seven days. The Haliburton Highlands detachment wants to remind motorists that stunt driving can carry a fine anywhere between $2,000 and $10,000 and a licence suspension of up to two years on the first conviction.
