You can go for a run in Minden Hills this summer to fight homelessness. The 47th running of the Highland Yard will be on Sunday, August 5thand registration is now open.

The race is a fundraiser for Place For People, which is a non-profit organization in the county that offers affordable rental housing to residents in danger of being homeless. Last year’s race brought in approximately $20,000 and Race Director Jack Russel is hopeful to hit, or surpass, that target this year. Russel adds that the money will go towards the renovation of a house in Cardiff that Places For People purchased in November of last year. P.F.P. adds that it has enough properties to house eight families, and has houses in each of the county’s four municipalities.

There are races spanning five and 10 kilometres and for those who would prefer to walk, they can enter to two-kilometre event. You can register by clicking here.
