7th Annual Katie’s Run aiming to make $40,000 this weekend

Haliburton County Residents are getting their runners cleaned up for this weekend.

This Saturday is the 7th annual Katie’s Run for Epilepsy Research, held at the Haliburton Highlands Secondary School.  This year the funding raised is going to research Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.

The goal for this year’s run is $40,000 which is $10,000 more than last year’s total.  Fundraising efforts include a 2.5KM walk, a 5 and 10KM run, loud and silent auctions, and finally, a draw that takes place during the event.  The winner of that draw will receive an anti-suffocation pillow and a watch designed to monitor epilepsy.

Olympic Gold Medalist Alex Kopacz and meteorologist Anthony Farnell are expected to attend as special guests.
