23 new licensed child care spaces coming to Minden

It was announced today that the need for child care in Minden will be getting some help. Ontario’s Ministry of Education approved an application for funding from the City of Kawartha Lakes to address childcare in Bobcaygeon and Minden Hills.

Minden, which currently has no licensed child care spaces for some 171 infants, is going to be getting 23 new spaces to better serve the community. Parents in the county are still recovering after The Children’s Learning Centre announced they were closing earlier this year, only be saved by an organization who took over the day to day operations of the daycare.

According to a report submitted to the ministry by the City of Kawartha Lakes, only 15% of infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers in the area have access to daycare.
