Beaches safe for swimming says HKPR

The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge Health Unit says that all beaches they test are safe for swimming.

The HKPR tests beaches weekly to review levels of bacteria in the waters. They’ve found that all public beaches in Haliburton County are currently safe for swimming. As well, the vast majority of the public beaches in Kawartha Lakes are safe.  The exception being Omemee Beach.

Omemee Beach was classified as ‘posted’ which according to the HKPR means that the bacteria levels in the water are higher than the acceptable standard set out by Ontario’s beach management protocol. The HKPR updates the test results weekly as the variables that affect bacteria levels change.
