Funding application for road rehabilitation not a unanimous decision in AH

Not every councilor agreed, but Algonquin Highlands is submitting an application for the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund.

Stanhope Airport Road has needed work for a long time says Public Works Operations Manager Mike Thomas, and this fund would allow them to completely rebuild it. Earlier this year, council was prepared to use 125 thousand dollars for the road, which would only resurface it. That money can now cover what will be left over if the funding goes through.

The application is due Sept. 19 and Councilor Marlene Kyle said she didn’t feel she had enough information to support the decision last minute.

Councilors Lisa Barry and Gord Henderson supported moving forwarded with the application, filling the majority vote required for it to pass.
