Man Dies Kayaking in Algonquin Park

The O.P.P. is investigating the death of a kayaker in Algonquin Park.

The Killaloe detachment of the O.P.P. responded to a capsized kayak call on the Lake of Two Rivers Friday evening. The police say that the kayak had two people on it, but only one of the men made it to shore. The second man was found unresponsive several feet from the shore. Witnesses and paramedics both attempted to revive the man, but 63-year-old Thomas Chambers of Toronto was later pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say that both men were wearing life jackets when the kayak capsized. The office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario has opened an investigation and a post-mortem has been scheduled. Police have deemed the incident non-suspicious at this time.
