Historical Society Sign Has Been Found

The  Haliburton Historical Society has their sign back after it was reported stolen.

Last week, the historical society was pleading with the public to help them track down their sign. The Break Wagon Hill sign was taken from its spot on Highway 118, the society was not sure exactly when the sign was taken but they noticed it on Halloween.

The historical society is now reporting that the sign has been found. As it turns out, the sign was not stolen but simply removed by Haliburton County staff to try and preserve it through the winter. The society believed that it was stolen because the chains holding it in place were cut off, and according to them, they were never told by the county that the sign was going to be removed.

The Haliburton Historical Society’s Margeret Giles says the society wants to thank everyone that helped them track down the sign.
