Province says it’s listening to residents about moose hunting

Ontario is taking steps to improve moose management and hunting allocations.

Jolanta Kowalski, Senior Media Relations Officer for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, says the province decided to take action after many hunters voiced their concerns on the subject.

She says Ontario’s motive is to improve the moose tag draw system in order to make it fairer, simpler and more accessible for hunters.

Kowalski says that over the next two years the MNRF will be working with an advisory committee to review the application process of moose tags, how tag quotas are developed and also how they are allocated.

She adds that they will be looking forward to hearing the opinion of stakeholders and hunters during the review process.
