Only two charges laid during Festive RIDE Campaign

Two people of 216 are facing charges following the O.P.P.’s RIDE Campaign in Haliburton County.

From November 23rd to January 2nd officers with the Haliburton Highlands O.P.P. conducted 216 spot checks around the county.

According to the police report, the cops issued 1 warn range licence suspension and charged two people related to alcohol consumption.

The O.P.P. is reminding drivers that RIDE checks continue all year round and there are new minimum fines and penalties connected impaired driving. Those new fines include a minimum $1,000 fine for the first offence, a 30-day prison sentence on the second offence and 120-day prison sentence for the third.

As well, drivers impaired by cannabis can face a minimum $1,000 fine.
