The contest is open to be a torchbearer in the 2015 Pan Am Games. Minden Hills is hosting the Canoe/Kayak Slalom event and they’re encouraging people to enter the contest.
The following criteria will be required for becoming a torchbearer:
- be at least 13 years of age on or before May 30, 2015
- be a Canadian citizen or legal resident of Canada
- be able to run/wheel your assigned 200-meter segment on your assigned day
- be prepared and able to participate unaccompanied in the two- to three-hour torchbearer experience between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
- wear the provided torchbearer uniform for the duration of your torchbearer experience
If you meet all of these, go to the Toronto Pan Am Games website and find out how you can enter your name in the draw. Each community, like Minden Hills, taking part in the torch relay will be able to select their torchbearer and two alternates.
