The Township of Minden Hills is taking steps to spread out its winter sand.

According to the town, they have dumped 1,500 tonnes of winter sand at the community centre parking lot for public use. Wilson says that because of the early onset of winter and the recent rain and thawing in the area, the town is going to be rationing the amount of sand that they dump for public use.

Wilson explains that the sand in the parking lot is for Minden Hills residents only, and emphasizes people are only allowed to take up to one, five-gallon container per car. Wilson goes on to say that it is for personal use only and contractors, commercial businesses, private roads and other government organizations are not allowed to take the sand.

There are contractors that you can hire to sand your road or property says, Wilson.
