Ice pellets, freezing rain, damaging winds and snowfall all expected to hit Haliburton this weekend

Mother Nature may be throwing everything in the winter playbook at Haliburton this weekend.

Environment Canada warns there is a potential for a significant amount of freezing rain or ice pellets to fall over Sunday. The storm moving into the county will likely start with snowfall on Saturday before transitioning to the more dangerous precipitation overnight. Meteorologists are predicting wind gusts to get as strong as 70km/h on Sunday as well. The mix of ice pellets and snowfall is expected bring about 10cm to the area by Monday morning.

The weather service is suggesting driving will likely be hazardous throughout the weekend and there is also potential for damage to buildings and hydro lines, causing outages across the county.

The MyHaliburtonNow.com Newsroom is tracking this storm and will bring you more details as they become available.
