Wind warning issued by Environment Canada

Environment Canada has issued Haliburton and area with a wind warning. 

This is in addition to a freezing rain warning that is in effect for the area tomorrow.

Gusts near 100 kilometres per hour are expected late tomorrow morning into the evening.

Officials at Hydro One are preparing for mass power outages as a result of the wind.

Southwesterly winds will develop over the Toronto to Barrie corridor tomorrow in the late morning, moving eastward through Kingston in the early afternoon.

A few locations near the shorelines of Lake Ontario could see gusts to 110 kilometers per hour through the late morning and early afternoon.

With such high wind rates, damage to buildings, roof shingles and windows may occur. People should also look for loose flying objects. Driving can become difficult affecting your vehicle and also visibility due to blowing snow.
