UPDATE: Hydro One forestry worker killed in workplace accident near Haliburton

Hydro One has confirmed that the 25-year-old man killed in a workplace accident north of Haliburton was a forestry worker.

Hydro One tweeted Thursday afternoon: “It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that one of our employees passed away from injuries sustained on the job today while working in the Minden area. We are deeply saddened by this loss and our thoughts and condolences are with the family, friends and colleagues.”

Global News reports that the person was struck on the head by a tree that was being cut down with co-workers then cutting the tree off the man.

The victim’s name has yet to be released and three other workers were reportedly injured and brought to the hospital but have since been released.

The Ministry of Labour and OPP are investigating.

A person has died following an accident in Dysart et al.

Constable Amanda Gilbert of the Haliburton Highlands O.P.P. confirmed that around 10:25am, police, as well as fire and paramedics, responded to a call of an industrial accident on Coleman Lake Road in Dysart.

The 25-year-old Sydenham man was taken to the Haliburton Hospital by Ornge Air Ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

According to the police report, the Ministry of Labour has been contacted and it is investigating the incident.

Global News reports the person was struck on the head by a tree that was being cut down. Co-workers reportedly got the tree off of the man.

Three others were injured in the incident
