Highlands East hiring part-time labourer

Highlands East is looking for help in the form a labourer.

The municipality announced this week that it is hiring a part-time labourer. According to Highlands East, the 30-hours a week job reports to the Environmental Supervisor.

Whoever applies will need to have a full G-licence, WHIMS training and partial completion of high school. Any previous landfill attendant experience is considered an asset. The successful applicant, according to the municipality, will have two major functions.

One being general maintenance and the other as a landfill attendant. While doing general maintenance, the person will need to Perform minor mechanical and plumbing repairs, minor construction/carpentry projects and repairs to municipal facilities and property, including occasional painting, as required. As well, they will have to do outdoor work like cleaning garbage, clearing snow, and sanding at Dyno Estates and Cardiff Townsite as required.

As the landfill attendant, the hiree will be tasked with directing traffic at the landfills, maintaining and operating them to compliance with Ministry of Environment standards, monitor incoming traffic and money, daily site inspections, daily brush burning, and other tasks as required.
