Local businesses receive funds to hire youth

Some local businesses in Lindsay are receiving funding that will help our youth get skills and work experience to find employment. MP Barry Devolin made the announcement last night that will give close to 58 thousand dollars to three local businesses to hire youth. The money is from the Government of Canada’s Career Focus program to give youth the experience and abilities they need to be successful in the workplace. The following are the businesses that will receive the funding, and the position they’ll be hiring for:

  • The City of Kawartha Lakes – $19,984 to hire a Tourism Coordinator
  • Francis Fitness Systems – $18,000 to employ at Business Development Intern
  • MinCom Plus Realty – $20,000 to hire a Social Media and E-Marketing Coordinator
