Parents asked to ensure kids are vaccinated

MUSKOKA, ON – The local health unit has made it easier than ever for parents to update their children’s immunization records.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) said in a release that it is up to the parents to make sure their kids are up to date on all their shots.

“In Ontario, under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, up to date immunization records are required for all students and it is the responsibility of a parent to report immunizations to their health unit,” the health district said, in their announcement.

They added parents can share their child’s record with the SMDHU by visiting the website.

Any parents that think they might have missed any of their child’s vaccinations, or need more information, can call Health Connection at 721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
