Parks’ staff say “the replacement of the Horseshoe Lake Dam will improve hydraulic capacity, public and operator safety, site access, and mechanical equipment. The new dam will also restore public access across the dam by providing a safe pedestrian walkway separated from the operating mechanisms. The new dam is expected to be complete in spring 2020.”

This work is part of the federal government’s investment of $3 billion in Parks Canada infrastructure.
