MINDEN HILLS, ON – Work on a local dam is impacting traffic on local a road.

Starting today, Horseshoe Lake Road will be reduced to one lane. The reason for the Lane Closure is because Parks Canada will have heavy equipment placed along the road.

The federal entity is working on replacing the Horseshoe Lake Dam.

According to Parks Canada, the work on the dam means that the road will be staying as one lane until at least December 31st, 2019.

Parks’ staff say “the replacement of the Horseshoe Lake Dam will improve hydraulic capacity, public and operator safety, site access, and mechanical equipment. The new dam will also restore public access across the dam by providing a safe pedestrian walkway separated from the operating mechanisms. The new dam is expected to be complete in spring 2020.”

This work is part of the federal government’s investment of $3 billion in Parks Canada infrastructure.
