John Howard Society offering program to help teens transition to adulthood

HALIBURTON, ON – With school days away, the high school and society are making sure that kids get the help they need.

Less than a week before the official start to the school year, the Haliburton Highlands Secondary School shared a post for teens and parents to read.

On that poster was the Youth in Transition Support Program. The program is done by the John Howard Society of Kawartha Lakes & Haliburton.

This program offers teens and young people guidance on a number of things, whether that be help finding work, going back to school, starting your post-secondary education, housing, or financial help.

The YiT support staff also works with young people to cope with health and mental health.

The John Howard Society says “the program is designed to encourage, support and coach individuals in their process of transitioning to adulthood.

According to the poster, this program is for children that are in the care of CAS, just leaving CAS care or were involved in care. It is also geared to anyone that is between 16 and 25.
