Former Dorset library now a depot

DORSET, ON – Dorset library branch for ordering books only now

How residents use the Dorset Branch of the Haliburton Public Library has changed.

As of September 1st, the Dorset location stopped functioning as a small library branch and became a library depot branch.

What it means is people can still have access to books in the system but will have to order them through a computer. CEO of the Library Bessie Sullivan said the biggest change is not being able to physically browse books.

“There is no browsing section in that space but there will be computer access and people can search our catalogue online and place holds and still pick them up in the community centre,” said Sullivan.

She said the library’s whole collection is available to users from all seven branches in the system.
