School board says school closures possible with CUPE job action

BRACEBRIDGE, ON- Schools may be closed next week due to striking workers.

According to a notice from the Trillium Lakelands District School Board, the closures are possible as of this coming Monday, due to the full strike of CUPE workers across Ontario. They are open for the remainder of the week.

“Trillium Lakelands District School Board is confirming details of the strike action and assessing the potential impact on school operations,” read the notice from the board.

“The health and safety of our students is our priority. We want our school communities to be aware that this strike action by CUPE may result in school closures as of Monday, October 7, 2019. Families are strongly encouraged to begin making alternate childcare arrangements prior to this potential strike beginning on Monday, October 7, 2019. We will communicate directly to parents and guardians once a decision is made about potential school closures.”
