(Doug Crosse, MyMuskokaNow.com staff) GRAVENHURST, ON-An inmate assault has led to a full lockdown and search at the Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst. This morning at 9:00 a.m. a medium-security lockdown was put in place after an inmate assault, so that staff could conduct a safe search to make sure that the prison, its staff and inmates were safe. Visits to the prison have been suspended until the search is complete and those who have already planned a visit are asked to contact the institution directly at 705-687-1895. According to a press release, the Correctional Service of Canada’s (CSC) primary concern is the safety and security of the institution. The announcement also said that CSC will be reviewing the incident and taking “appropriate measures against these situations”, so that Canada’s prisons could be improved.
