Police cruiser left undrivable after collision with impaired driver

HALIBURTON, ON – A Haliburton area man is facing drunk driving charges.

The OPP says it was checking out a suspicious pick up on Maple Avenue Sunday morning.

As officers were walking toward the truck, the 60-year old driver backed into the cruiser.

The officers weren’t hurt but while they were talking to the driver, they thought he may have been drinking. He blew over twice the legal limit when he was given a breath test.

His licence was suspended for 90 days, his car is in the pound for a week and he has a court date in January. The cruiser was damaged and had to be towed.
