Township office closes

HALIBURTON, ON-Unspecified social media posts have shut down municipal buildings in Algonquin Highlands Township.

Mayor Carol Moffat said in a Facebook post that staff was made aware of the posts that “contained language of enough concern” that police were called.

After speaking with the OPP the township has closed the municipal office, the library, the municipal garage and the community centre on North Shore Road.
Staff has been sent home for the day.

Moffat says the safety of staff is the main concern, but does apologize for any inconvenience.
