Senior’s programs in Haliburton County receive emergency funding from United Way

United Way Kawartha Lakes is distributing over $49,000 in emergency funding, to support senior’s programs in Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton.

Grant recipients in Haliburton County include the Central Food Network, the Rotary Club of Haliburton’s Good Food Box, and SIRCH Community Services.

Central Food Network’s Operational and Administrative Director Tina Jackson, says “the funding will support several of their services, including free delivery of groceries and emergency food, through both of their food banks”. She says the funds will also help offer safe access to tax preparation services, so lower income seniors continue to receive their much relied upon benefits to cover monthly expenses.

Secretary for Central Food Network David O’Brien says “this funding will support several of the programs that aim to help seniors stay insulated, not isolated”.
