Scott calls Ontario’s Retirement Pension Plan the war on jobs

The province of Ontario has introduced the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan and the PCs are calling it the war on jobs. Laurie Scott is our local MPP and she explains what the plan is

The provincial government has said it’s a plan to help people save for retirement. Those involved will be required to put 1.9 per cent of their paycheck away, and the employer has to match it. Scott says the PCs are fighting it because it would be a mandatory plan that people just can’t afford.

Scott says when this came up during the recent campaign she heard from local businesses and they were not happy.

The plan is going through a consultation process and isn’t set to roll out until 2017.
