Haliburton Assessment Centre will test anyone who wants to be tested

Haliburton County’s COVID-19 assessment centre will test anyone who wants to be tested.

After a crowd gathered in a Toronto park on the weekend, Ontario’s premier said at this point everyone should be tested, whether they have symptoms or not.

Local COVID spokesman, Dr. Norm Bottum says if you are at all worried you may have the virus, get tested. He says everyone can be screened.

Call the family medical centre at 457-1212 extension 6, and a nurse will get your demographics, and give you an appointment time. They will give you a time to drive to the COVID assessment centre this week and you’ll have a swab taken.

Dr. Bottum says typically test results will come back in 48 to 72 hours.

Dr. B says we’ve been fortunate there has been “excess capacity” at the assessment centre here in Haliburton. He says if everyone today wanted to get tested they would have a hard time accommodating them, but they are prepared to increase the hours of the assessment centre to accommodate the asymptomatic screenings.
