Downtown pigeons are still a problem in Minden.
At Minden Hills last committee of the whole meeting before the pandemic shutdown, a downtown resident complained of the constant dust and dander. He indicated he had lost a roommate because of an allergic reaction to the bird poo.
Council looked at several options available to deal with the situation now and in the future.
At this week’s regular meeting of council, it was agreed that staff will advise the owner to board up all of the broken windows. They will also put up signs asking people to not feed the birds.
Council also agreed to consult with the local wildlife agency on the best way to remove the pigeons, without harming them.
