Kawartha Lakes OPP responded to a small boat in distress on June 1.
When the boat made it to shore the responding officer discovered the boat was missing some required safety equipment, including life jackets for the occupants.
That’s a fine of $240 with another $100 for each additional life jacket offence.
The OPP want to remind boaters of simple rules to follow before you head out.

It’s important to tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return. You should know what safety equipment your boat requires and confirm it’s on board. You must ensure there are enough life jackets for everyone and bring a fully charged cell phone.
