Local Conservative MP Jamie Schmale has been appointed Shadow Minister for Families, Children and Social Development.

In a press release yesterday, MP Schmale says “he was chosen by Her Majesty’s Official Opposition, and Conservative Party of Canada leader Erin O’Toole.

Schmale says he’s grateful to be able to serve the constituents of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, and all Canadians. Schmale says “we are in an unprecedented time in our nations history, with families struggling, youth underemployed and anxiety about what the future may hold”. He says “our families and children are the bedrock of our society and he will work hard every day on their behalf”.

Previously MP Schmale had served in the shadow cabinet as Shadow Minister for Crown-Indigenous Relations.
