Businesses in Haliburton County are now eligible to benefit from additional relief funding through the federal government’s Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF).
The feds invested $560,000 to the Haliburton County Development Corporation (HCDC through the fund. “This funding is a top-up to the $994,888.67 investment by the Government of Canada that was provided in May 2020, for a total funding allocation of $1,554,888.67,” HCDC explains.
They say they are now able to provide loans of up to $40,000 at zero-percent.
HCDC says a “central part” of the RRRF is helping keep businesses afloat by supporting those who may not be eligible for other programs. “Since the Fund was launched in May, over 1,000 businesses have been assisted through the RRRF by the region’s Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs), helping them keep their employees, cover operating costs and play a role in our economic recovery,” HCDC boasts. Specifically, 3,500 jobs have been provided in Southern Ontario thanks to the fund.
“For example, Haliburton Guitar Studio offers private music lessons, in-house recording, consultation and talent booking, and video and music live streaming services,” HCDC says. “The business is located in downtown Haliburton and was drastically affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. With RRRF assistance through HCDC, they received support for working capital and have been able to expand their services and transformed to online offerings. They have also been able to expand their markets and have more clients now than before the pandemic.”
