Outbreak declared at Hyland Crest Long-Term Care Home

Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) has declared an outbreak at the Hyland Crest Long-Term Care Home.

One staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Officials with HHHS say the positive test was revealed during routine screening. A further test did not find any variants of concern.

Since testing positive, the staff member has been self-isolating and did not return to work at the long-term care home. HHHS has been working with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit to find any close contacts who may have been exposed.

Now that the home is in an outbreak, immediate testing of all residents that could have been exposed will be done, all residents will be isolated to their rooms and admissions will be postponed.

HHHS officials say the situation will continue to be monitored and updates will be released when they become available.
