News Ontario adds 2,400 new COVID-19 cases SHARE ON: Casey Kenny, staff Thursday, May. 20th, 2021 (Supplied by Pixabay) Ontario is reporting over 2,000 new COVID-19 cases. Thursday’s 2,400 cases follow two consecutive days where the case count was under 2,000. Sixty-eight per cent of the new cases are in the hot spots around the GTHA. The death toll is now at 8,552 after another 27 people died. The recovery rate is steady at 94 per cent while test positivity is at 5.2 per cent. Over 45,000 tests were done over the last 24 hours with over 144,000 vaccines given.
