Minden council considering condominiums

Minden Hills council is considering a condominium for the township. At yesterday’s council meeting, Greystone Construction showed plans for a three story, 15 unit condominium they want to put next to the county building on Newcastle Street. The same company built the two condos that are in Haliburton, which one sold out before construction was done and the other one hasn’t finished construction but only has four units left.

Councilors agreed the building would be a great addition to the community. The construction would take about ten months and the entrance would mean losing about two parking spots in the Township parking lot. During the construction, Greystone is also asking for an extra section of the parking lot for a staging area. According to the project manager, this requires about ten parking spaces during the ten months of construction, which would run into the summer months.

Reeve Brent Devolin said they want to make sure the project is started on a good foot so council has a lot to talk about. With budget the first priority for council, Devolin said they should have a decision in March.
